Township of Wilmot includes communities of Baden, Berlett’s Corners, Haysville, Josephburg, Luxemburg, Mannheim, New Dundee, New Hamburg, New Prussia, Petersburg, Phillipsburg, St. Agatha, Schindelsteddle and Wilmot Centre, as well as most of Punkeydoodles Corners.
First settlers came to the area in 1824. The Township of Wilmot is 263.78 km2 (101.85 sq mi) and has a population of 20,545 .
WHAT IS IT FAMOUS FOR?
• Castle Kilbride
Castle Kilbride is a designated National Historic Site and is located in Baden. It was built in 1877 by its owner, a flax industrialist James Livingston.
• Mennonite Relief Sale
The festival is held annually on the last weekend in May. It features an auction sale of handmade quilts, local Mennonite and Amish foods and musical performances.
• Mopar Fest
The festival is held every year in August and is Canada’s largest all Mopar Car Show. It features around 2000 cars and attracts about 20,000 car enthusiasts every year! It offers its visitors food tents, beer gardens and cruise nights.
